The Betty Stovall Spectrum of the Arts is a unique arts experience for current 4th– 8th grade Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools students who are talented in the areas of art, music, dance, drama, or creative writing. Students are nominated for this program by the arts area teachers in their schools. Spectrum of the Arts, now in its 29th year, offers students the opportunity to spend six hours a day in an intensive study of the arts. Three hours of each day are spent in a primary area (referred to as a “Major”) of talent, and the remainder of the day is divided between each of the other arts areas (referred to as “Minors”). This seven day experience will be held June 17, 18, 20 and 24-27, 2024 (Monday-Thursday, except June 19th in observance of Juneteenth) from 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. . On the final day of the program (June 27, 2024), students “share” a sampling of their creativity. Students are selected for the program based on teacher nominations from each school. If you are interested, please reach out to your child’s Academic Facilitator, Talent Development Teacher, Dance Teacher, Art Teacher, Drama Teacher and/or Music Teacher. Nominations will begin in December 2023.
